On May 25, 2012 “NHGRI, NICHD Plan $25M Newborn Sequencing Screening Grants Program” was published by GenomeWeb News. The article describes a new grant program of the National Human Genome Research Institute and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The new grant program of 25 million dollars will support research focused on whole genome and exome sequencing related to newborn care, specifically newborn screening. Expected to be released this summer as a RFA, the new grant program will fund up to five pilot projects collecting genomic sequencing datasets from newborns.
