For Researchers

The NBSTRN was developed as a resource for researchers in the field of newborn screening. We aim to provide education, services and resources for investigators in the aim to provide an infrastructure that allows investigators access to robust resources for newborn screening research.

In this section we provide useful information regarding the fundamentals of research, especially as it relates to newborn screening. We've created a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that will assist investigators navigate the bioethical and legal issues related to newborn screening research.

Also provided here are model consent form modules. These templates were developed by a team of experts in the area of newborn screening related research and are available to anyone who wishes to use them. Download the Word documents and customize them for your institution and your particular research study.

Finally, we've included the NIH grant submission timeline. This will help an investigator plan his/her research submission and assist with gathering all related materials in a timely fashion.
